Strategic Advisory Management (SAM) is a Director-led, bespoke advisory firm specialising in EU and international advisory services to globally active firms. With two decades experience working in public and private sectors roles in the UK and Brussels, we have deep expertise in the fields of government relations, lobbying and advocacy, political affairs, public and regulatory affairs, corporate management and events management & logistics.
Mark Foster, Owner and Managing Director
Mark, A British-Belgian dual national, started his career in Brussels as a European Parliamentary Assistant, working for two UK MEPs. He developed policy expertise in Constitutional Affairs and Justice & Home affairs/Civil Liberties before specialising in EU financial services in various roles including in the UK Permanent Representation to the EU, Partner in a leading consultancy firm and Vice President, Government Relations at a UK headquartered, globally systemic financial institution.
As an integral part of the European and international policymaking fabric for over 20 years, Mark has worked closely with all levels of government and all EU institutions. He has advised some of the largest multi-nationals in various sectors, including banking, investment firms, Fintech and BigTech, digital, circular economy/sustainability.
Mark has also held multiple roles in prominent trade associations, including Vice Chair of the UK/EU Task Force at the British Chamber of Commerce to the EU and an elected, ex officio role on the policy group at Amcham EU.
Mark holds a Master of Arts (MA Hons) in languages (French and German) and EU studies from the University of Edinburgh and a Master of Science in international and European studies from the institute Europeenne des Hautes Etudes Internationales, Nice.
